Daniel Son, MD is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with the American Board of Family Medicine. Before joining Ryan Ranch Medical Group, he practiced medicine in Colorado for over 7 years. He was involved in various regional committees including safety, nursing guidelines, pre-diabetes, and electronic medical records. Most recently he was in a practice in Santa Cruz for a short time before coming to his senses and relocating to Monterey.

He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to medical school, Dr. Son completed his undergraduate degree in psychology, molecular biology, and biochemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder, culminating into an admission to the national Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

He has a diverse range of medical experience from working in county hospitals to world class institutions like UCLA, to the Indian Health Services in Alaska, to small rural one street towns. He has even served as an on-site doctor for the Colorado state legislation.

As for medicine, he enjoys all aspects of family medicine, especially prevention and sports. He believes that medicine is at its core, a privileged relationship between doctor and patient that is based on mutual respect, honesty, and transparency. Knowledge is key, and he feels it is his role to empower patients to help make the best choices for themselves.

Dr. Son is married with three young children. His family is his life and he enjoys playing dress up with his daughters and teaching his son new karate moves. When not with his family, he likes to cycle, fish, and do martial arts. Coming from Colorado, he has been known to snowboard as well.

Dr. Son and his family are pleased to call Monterey home and looks forward to helping patients feel just as at home in his clinical practice.
